My photo story Coyoacàn on Fotopedia
On the way to a conference on the Nayarit riviera, I stopped off in Mexico City for a day. It was a Monday so all the museums were closed and I had to change my plans. A friend had recommended visiting the barrio of Coyoacàn, south of the city centre, so I braved the metro and then walked for a long way to discover this beautiful and quiet part of the largest city on this earth. It houses some of the oldest buildings of the city in Santa Catarina and several beautiful plazas with bars, cafés and vendor stalls. Obviously an area where middle class people live and catering for the more discerning tourist, it broke through my prejudiced picture of a sprawling, smoggy, slum-filled moloch and showed me the softer, beautiful Kahlo side of Mexico City.
