The Jewish Cemetery in Weissensee was one of the first places I visited in East Berlin before the Wall came down. These pictures were taken thirty years later on a photo tour. The place has lost none of its magic even though much of it has since been renovated. Because of the abundance of trees, the play of sunlight and shadow on the gravestones make it a lovely place to photograph and to spend a few quiet hours.
